2015 Ford Explorer.jpg

The 2015 Ford Explorer moves people and carries cargo, virtually anywhere.

The all-new 2015 Explorer was built for all road conditions, and made to transport passengers and cargo safely. With available 3-rows, the Explorer can seat up to seven passengers, and for cargo space on demand the available class-exclusive PowerFold® 3rd-row 50/50 split-folding seat folds flat at the touch of a button! Advanced materials and assembly processes help ensure that the structure of the 2015 Explorer is both strong for durability and lightweight for efficiency. Available Intelligent 4WD continuously monitors wheel speed, throttle position and steering angle to determine the vehicle's conditions and driver's intent. The 4WD system then determines the optimal amount of front and rear torque for the given conditions to not only reduce wheel-slip and help keep the vehicle sure-footed on virtually any terrain. Also included in the 4WD System is Hill Descent Control, which lets you set and maintain a constant speed while traveling downhill; and Terrain Management System, which lets you shift on the fly into one of four settings to match the terrain:

  • Normal - biases torque to the front wheels and sends it to the rear only as needed.
  • Mud/Ruts - switches the throttle to a more aggressive mode, limits upshifting and desensitizes stability control, allowing the tires to spin as needed.
  • Sand - delivers maximum torque to the wheels, keeping the transmission in the lower gears for as long as possible, which allows the wheels to spin aggressively.
  • Grass/Gravel/Snow - sets the transmission for faster upshifts and adjusts the engine torque slightly to improve traction and control on a hard surface covered with loose material like grass, gravel or snow.
Have more cargo than the new Explorer can hold? The Explorer can tow up to 5,000 lbs. when properly equipped with power that comes from its standard 3.5L Ti-VCT V6, which delivers 290 horsepower and 255 lb.-ft. of torque. The Class III Trailer Tow Package, required for towing, includes an engine oil cooler and wiring harness.
Available voice-activated SYNC® with MyFord® helps keep your eyes on the road and hands on the wheel; a 4.2-inch information cluster screen is also there to assist you. Features of the SYNC® with MyFord® system include:

  • Hands-free calling
  • Voice-activated music search
  • Bluetooth® audio that lets you wirelessly control your entertainment with voice commands.
  • Turn-by-turn directions to just about anywhere, plus 411 business search, personalized sports scores, news, horoscopes and more.
  • Text messages read out loud
  • 911 Assist®

You can even upgrade to SYNC®  with MyFord Touch® for the ultimate in capabilities! Features on the SYNC® with MyFord Touch® include:

  • A customizable, eight-inch touch screen in the center stack, dual 4.2-inch cluster screens, audio/video input jacks and two USB ports.
  • WiFi® capability
  • Voice recognition technology that responds to commands as simple and conversational as "find restaurant."
  • Complimentary SYNC Services for three years
  • Voice commands to adjust your climate
  • Find the SiriusXM radio stations you want with voice commands.

The 2015 Ford Explorer features technology that anticipates your driving needs, and keeps your precious cargo safe. The available rear view camera provides a video image on the center console screen of the area behind you, with screen guides that help you align your vehicle when hooking up a trailer. Available Hill Start Assist helps keep the vehicle from rolling backward when you're on a slope or hill, while the Sway Control feature integrated with the standard AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control detects trailer sway. As trailer sway is detected, the Sway Control feature automatically adjusts engine speed and applies asymmetric braking to help counter it. Available BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) uses radar in the rear quarter panels to identify a vehicle entering your blind spot and alerts you with an indicator light in the sideview mirror.
Limited models feature available Active Park Assist, which uses ultrasonic sensors to locate a parking space. With Active Park Assist, simply press a button and once a spot is detected, the Explorer steers into place with a few simple steps on your part while you're slowly backing up. Limited models also feature available Lane Keeping System, which is designed to help you stay in control while on the road. Features of the Lane Keeping System include:

  • Camera detects lane markings and communicates with the steering system
  • Lane-keeping alert mode: Drift too close to a lane marker and a vibration is sent to the steering wheel, much like the feeling of riding over rumble strips.
  • Lane-keeping aid mode: Provides a directional steering torque, helping you guide your vehicle back to the center of the lane.
  • Use either the lane-keeping alert or aid mode - or combine them, receiving a steering torque first, followed by a vibration alert if you continue drifting.
  • Included Driver Aid System can detect erratic vehicle movements over a period of time, indicating possible drowsiness; coffee cup displays, signaling it may be time to rest.

Experience terrain-conquering capability and class-leading highway mpg in the 2015 Ford Explorer.
